Masood Azhar to be the professor of global peace…! slams Priyanka over UN decision

Berlin/New York: In a scathing rebuke from Berlin, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi slammed the United Nations for what she called an “absurd and dangerous” decision—appointing Pakistan, a known haven for terrorists, as the vice-chair of the UN Security Council’s Counter-Terrorism Committee.

While addressing global leaders as part of an all-party Indian delegation, Chaturvedi didn’t mince her words. “It’s like appointing Masood Azhar as a professor of global peace,” she quipped, highlighting the sheer irony of assigning a terror-tainted state such a critical role. “Pakistan harbours 52 UN-designated terrorists and yet finds itself on a platform meant to fight terrorism. It’s a joke on the global fight against terror.”

Her explosive remarks come as Pakistan, set to serve its 2025–26 term as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, is also expected to chair the Taliban Sanctions Committee—a decision many experts say could undermine global anti-terror efforts.

Chaturvedi invoked India’s rich spiritual and resistance heritage, saying, “Yes, we are the land of Gandhi and Buddha. But we are also the land of Lord Krishna—who teaches us to stand up and fight against injustice. India will not hesitate to take on terrorists when justice is at stake.”

The Indian parliamentary delegation, led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, includes BJP leaders Daggubati Purandeswari and Samik Bhattacharya, Congress MPs Ghulam Ali Khatana and Amar Singh, former Union Minister MJ Akbar, and ex-Ambassador Pankaj Saran.

The development has triggered outrage among Indian political circles and international policy observers alike, raising concerns over the UN’s credibility in addressing global terrorism.
