NIA arrests two prime suspects in Bhupatinagar blast case in 2022; Mamta Banarjee slams NIA action

JNS: National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested two key conspirators in West Bengal’s Bhupatinagar blast case that killed three persons in December 2022.

In a statement today, the NIA said that the accused were arrested amid stiff resistance from an unruly crowd in the state’s East Medinipore district.

During the operation, one team member of NIA suffered minor injuries and the agency’s official vehicle was also damaged as some miscreants in the crowd assaulted them. The aggressive crowd tried to stop the NIA team and its security component from moving towards Bhupatinagar police station to complete the arrest formalities.

NIA has lodged a complaint at the local police station in this regard. The arrested individuals were identified as Balai Charan Maity and Manobrata Jana.

The two men had actively participated in the conspiracy to manufacture and explode crude bombs to spread terror.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has accused the National Investigation Agency (NIA) of working as BJP’s proxy after the Central terror probe agency arrested two primary suspects related to the 2022 Bhupatinagar bombing in West Bengal’s East Midnapore district on Saturday.
