New Delhi: Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi has urged students to dream big, overcome fear, and draw inspiration from biographies, emphasising self-belief and holistic learning during his interaction with students in the ninth edition of the interactive programme Pariksha Pe Charcha.
In a video released on Friday, the Prime Minister addressed students on managing exam stress, advising them to trust their own learning patterns while remaining open to guidance from teachers, parents and mentors. He noted that each student grows differently and that confidence develops when external advice is blended with personal understanding rather than blindly imitated.
Highlighting the role of educators, Modi said teachers must remain sensitive to the pace of each learner and keep their guidance achievable and motivating. Comparing teaching to farming, he remarked that just as soil must be prepared before sowing seeds, teachers should patiently nurture young minds and build curiosity in advance to deepen understanding.

Responding to a student’s query on the importance of skills versus marks, the Prime Minister stressed balance, saying both academic performance and skill-building are essential for stability and growth. He distinguished between life skills and professional skills and underscored that neither can be developed without study, observation and practical application.
Modi cautioned against shortcuts in exam preparation, including over-reliance on guidebooks and question banks, and advocated comprehensive learning guided by teachers. He also stressed holistic development, urging students to maintain physical fitness, mental strength, proper rest and nutrition alongside studies. “Education is not only for exams but for life,” he said, adding that examinations should be seen as opportunities for self-assessment rather than the ultimate goal.

Encouraging collaborative and creative learning, the Prime Minister asked students to nurture curiosity, strengthen foundations during school years, and transform hobbies into practical outputs, noting that feedback drives innovation. He highlighted technology and artificial intelligence as powerful learning tools when used wisely and also called cleanliness a fundamental responsibility.
Concluding his address, Modi emphasised honesty with oneself as the source of real confidence and warned against living without dreams. He urged students to aim high, shed fear, and find inspiration in life stories and biographies.
The Pariksha Pe Charcha initiative, conceptualised by the Prime Minister, seeks to reduce exam stress and promote positivity in line with the National Education Policy 2020. This year’s sessions were held with “Exam Warriors” in Devmogra, Coimbatore, Raipur, Guwahati and at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi. According to the Ministry of Education, over 4.5 crore students, teachers and parents registered for the programme through the MyGov portal.
