Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Sworn in as Lok Sabha MP, Begins Parliamentary Journey

New Delhi: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took her oath as a Member of Parliament (MP) on Thursday, officially marking her debut in the Lok Sabha. Priyanka was elected from Kerala’s Wayanad constituency, which had gone to a bypoll on November 13.

The oath ceremony was attended by her family, including mother Sonia Gandhi, brother Rahul Gandhi, husband Robert Vadra, and children Raihan and Miraya Vadra.

Priyanka won the Wayanad seat with a commanding lead of 4,10,931 votes, securing a decisive victory over CPI’s Sathyan Mokeri in a three-way contest that also saw BJP’s Navya Haridas in the race.

The seat became available after her brother, Rahul Gandhi, resigned from it following his win in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where he retained his constituency of Rae Bareli. This marked a return to form for Rahul, who had faced a tough defeat in Amethi in 2019 before Wayanad served as a political lifeline for him.

With this win, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra officially enters the parliamentary arena, further strengthening the Gandhi family’s presence in Indian politics.
