“Srijan 23” begins at IIT-ISM

JNS: Techies from all over the country gathered at IIT (ISM) for a much-needed break from their regular schedule of classes, laboratories, and workshops, and instead enjoyed the deafening decibel performances of a wide variety of bands, strutted their stuff on the ramp in fancy outfits, and enthralled the audience with their mellifluous voices during the Singing event.

On the first day of a three-day gala event, “Vintage to Vogue,” which was held at IIT (ISM), Srijan 23, Eastern India’s biggest Socio Cultural Fest, saw the perfect blend of Art & Science through its many events.

The fun & festive frolic day began sharply at 9 a.m. simultaneously at five different hotspots, including the New Lecture Hall Complex (NLHC), the Golden Jubilee Lecture Theatre (GJLT), the Penman Auditorium, the Open Air Theatre (OAT), and also in the area in front of the library with the live performance of budding technocrats from across the country.

At NLHC, 57 people competed in 19 different teams across three different events: a creative speaking competition (Spin a Yarn), a self-debate competition (Turncoat), and a writing competition (flash fiction).

Triathlon coordinator Jasleen Kaur said, “There were three rounds of competition: elimination, semi-finals, and finals.”

In the preliminary round of the solo singing contest, titled, Aaroh, held at Penman Auditorium, altogether, 43 students from different technical institutes across the country enthralled the audience with renditions of songs of their choice.

The event coordinator, Sanskar Mathur, said, “we received 57 entries out of which 43 were screened for the preliminary round held this morning.”

“Each participant was allowed 5 minutes to perform the song of their choice, and judging was carried out based on singing potential, evaluating tone, scale, rhythm, pitch, voice modulation & overall connection with the audience,” elaborated Mathur.

Theatrical skills and acting talent of techies were on display during the Rangmanch drama event held at GJLT, in which participants expressed their emotions and moved the audience with their enriching acts.

“A maximum of 25 students, including crew members, were allowed to group in a team, and the maximum time allotted to perform was 75 minutes,” said one of the event coordinators.

Not only this, but the campus of the premier tech institute at Dhanbad witnessed a lot of other euphoric events during the fun-filled day, including Folk Twist-an English literary event, Easter Eggs-a film making event, Jashn E Aagaz-a Hindi Literary event, Harmony-a Musical event, An Element of Truth-Quiz competition, etc.
