Hyderabad: Thailand’s Opal Suchata Chuangsri emerged victorious at the 72nd Miss World pageant, held this year in Hyderabad, clinching the coveted crown after outshining contestants from 107 countries across the globe.
The grand finale took place on Saturday evening, where Chuangsri was crowned by outgoing Miss World Krystyna Pyszková of the Czech Republic. Hasset Dereje Admassu of Ethiopia was named the first runner-up, following a closely contested finale.
The glitzy event was co-hosted by former Miss World 2016 Stephanie del Valle and Indian television presenter Sachiin Kumbhar, with Hyderabad once again playing host after successfully organizing the pageant last year.
India’s hopeful, Nandini Gupta, made it to the Top 20, but missed out on a spot in the final round. The last Indian to win the Miss World crown was Manushi Chhillar in 2017. India has a rich history with the pageant, having produced six winners to date, including Reita Faria, Aishwarya Rai, Diana Hayden, Yukta Mookhey, and Priyanka Chopra.
This year’s edition celebrated diversity, elegance, and empowerment, marking another memorable chapter in the Miss World legacy.
