University of Birmingham offers over £1 million in scholarships for Indian students

JNS: The University of Birmingham, a member of the esteemed Russell Group of UK universities and consistently ranked among the top 100 universities worldwide, has introduced a scholarship program exceeding £1 million tailored for Indian students.

These scholarships, designed to support academically accomplished Indian students with a strong extracurricular background, provide opportunities for pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the University of Birmingham during the 2024–25 academic year. They are divided into two categories: merit-based awards and automatic scholarships, available for specific academic fields such as Business, Computer Science, Arts & Law, Environmental & Physical Sciences, Geography, and Earth & Environmental Sciences.

Professor Robin Mason, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International) at the University of Birmingham, expressed his enthusiasm for these scholarships, stating, “We are delighted to offer these new substantial scholarships for Indian students that will help them benefit from the rich educational, social, and cultural experience that University of Birmingham provides. These scholarships demonstrate both the importance that Indian students have in our global student community and our commitment to India as a strategic partner. The University of Birmingham is a global civic university with a long, illustrious relationship with India. We look forward to welcoming the next cohort of Indian students to our beautiful historic campus in Birmingham.”

Among the various scholarships unveiled by the university are: 20 Outstanding Achievement Scholarships, each valued at £4,000, for undergraduate students; 15 India Chancellor Scholarships, each worth £2,000, for postgraduate students; and unlimited automatic scholarships, each amounting to £2,000, under the Global Masters Scholarships scheme.

The University of Birmingham has also introduced several other scholarships specifically aimed at Indian students. Applications for the September 2024 intake are currently open for international students, and interested individuals can visit the university’s official website for further information.
