New Delhi/Tiruppur/Kolkata: In a significant counter-terror operation, security agencies have arrested eight suspects allegedly involved in a terror conspiracy with suspected links to Pakistan’s intelligence agency and extremist networks based in Bangladesh.
Six Picked Up from Tiruppur
Six of the accused — identified as Mizanur Rahman, Mohammed Shabat, Umar, Mohammed Litan, Mohammed Shahid and Mohammed Ujjal — were detained from garment manufacturing units in Tiruppur, a major textile hub in Tamil Nadu.
Investigators said the suspects were working in the garment sector and were allegedly using forged Aadhaar cards to hide their identities.

Two Arrested in West Bengal
Two more suspects were arrested from West Bengal, taking the total number of arrests to eight. Officials confirmed that one of the detainees is a Bangladeshi national.
During the searches, police recovered eight mobile phones and 16 SIM cards, which are now being examined for digital evidence and communication trails.

Suspected Foreign Links Under Probe
Security agencies believe the group may have been operating with backing from handlers linked to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Bangladesh-based extremist outfits.
The arrests were carried out by the Tamil Nadu Police, and the accused are being handed over to the Delhi Police for further interrogation.
Possible Delhi Targets
Investigators are probing whether the module was planning attacks at high-profile locations in the national capital. Intelligence inputs have indicated that Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives may have been exploring potential strikes near the Red Fort and other prominent religious sites in Delhi using improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Wider Network Being Traced
Officials said the latest crackdown may have helped foil a larger conspiracy. Agencies are now working to map the full network, including funding channels, digital links and possible cross-border handlers connected to the suspects.
