Ranchi: Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani on Sunday inspected major power projects in Jharkhand and Bihar, signalling the conglomerate’s deepening push into eastern India — a mineral-rich region that has historically lagged in industrial investment.

During his visit to tribal-dominated Godda in Jharkhand, Adani reviewed operations at the 1,600 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant built at a cost exceeding ₹16,000 crore. The project has created thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities and improved rail connectivity in the area. Notably, the plant supplies electricity exclusively to Bangladesh under a long-term agreement, giving it cross-border economic importance.

Adani also travelled to Bihar, where the Group is planning a 2,400 MW ultra-supercritical power project at Pirpainti near Bhagalpur. The proposed venture, pegged at over ₹27,000 crore, is expected to be commissioned within four to five years and is aimed at meeting the state’s growing industrial and urban power demand.

Together, the projects position the Adani Group among the largest private infrastructure investors in Jharkhand and Bihar — states that, despite abundant natural resources, have traditionally seen limited inflow of large-scale private capital.

At the Godda facility, Adani interacted with engineers, technicians and frontline staff, and also met tribal women from nearby villages, reiterating the Group’s people-centric development focus.

Earlier in the day, he offered prayers at the Baba Baidyanath temple in Deoghar, calling it the fulfilment of a long-cherished wish. He reiterated his belief in the philosophy of “Seva hi Sadhana Hai” — service as a form of devotion. In recent years, the Adani Group has also been associated with major spiritual and public initiatives, including activities linked to the Maha Kumbh Mela and the Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra in Prayagraj and Puri.
