New Delhi: Two India-bound liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tankers have successfully crossed the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, easing immediate concerns over possible disruptions to India’s energy supplies amid heightened tensions in West Asia.
The vessels, carrying LPG cargo destined for India, were allowed to transit through the narrow maritime corridor linking the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman. One of the tankers reportedly crossed the strait earlier, while the second followed soon after, completing the passage without incident.
The safe movement of the ships comes at a time when global shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has been under close scrutiny due to rising geopolitical tensions in the region. The waterway is one of the world’s most critical energy routes, through which a large portion of global oil and gas supplies passes.
