New Delhi: Venezuela’s Acting President, Delcy Rodríguez, arrived in India on Wednesday for a five-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation in key sectors, including energy, trade, investment, healthcare and renewable energy.
Rodríguez is leading a high-level delegation that includes Venezuela’s ministers handling foreign affairs, economy and finance, science and technology, communications, and transportation. During her stay, she is scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior Indian leaders to review the full spectrum of India-Venezuela relations and identify new areas of collaboration.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), discussions will focus on energy security, trade, investment, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, transportation and renewable energy. The visit comes at a time when India has significantly increased its imports of Venezuelan crude oil, making energy cooperation a key component of the bilateral agenda.
The Venezuelan delegation is also expected to visit energy, pharmaceutical and automobile facilities in India to explore investment opportunities and gain insights into the country’s technological and industrial capabilities. Meetings with leading players from India’s energy sector are also on the agenda.
India and Venezuela have traditionally shared friendly relations, particularly in the energy sector, with trade ties expanding steadily over the years. Officials on both sides view the visit as an opportunity to deepen economic engagement and diversify cooperation into emerging sectors such as healthcare, technology and clean energy.
The visit is expected to provide fresh momentum to bilateral relations and reinforce cooperation between the two countries at a time of evolving global energy and economic dynamics.
