Bokaro: ESL Steel Limited marked World Environment Day 2026 with a large-scale plantation drive and a series of sustainability initiatives, reaffirming its commitment to environmental conservation and responsible industrial growth.
Under the Ministry of Environment’s “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, more than 150 employees planted over 1,000 native saplings across a 1.80-acre site. The initiative marks the first phase of ESL Steel’s commitment to plant over 15,000 saplings in the area to enhance green cover and ecological balance.
CEO and Whole-Time Director Ravish Sharma interacted with employees during the programme and emphasized the importance of tree plantation and reducing single-use plastics to build a sustainable future.
Additional plantation drives across various departments led to the planting of over 300 saplings within the plant premises. ESL Steel also joined hands with CISF Bokaro Unit and SAIL for a plantation campaign near Circuit House, Bokaro, where more than 1,000 saplings were planted. Under its CSR initiative, Project WADI, ESL Steel contributed over 350 saplings to the effort.
To promote environmental awareness, the company organized quiz competitions, waste-to-value challenges, poster-making, poetry and short-video contests, engaging over 300 employees, workers and business partners. A cleanliness drive at Dhandabar village’s Learning Resource Centre also witnessed active community participation.
Speaking on the occasion, Ravish Sharma said environmental sustainability is a shared responsibility towards future generations and every sapling planted today contributes to a greener and cleaner tomorrow.
