Mumbai: The Mumbai edition of JD Design Awards 2026, organised by JD Institute of Fashion Technology, concluded on a high note after four days of fashion, creativity and innovation, bringing together budding designers, industry experts, buyers and design enthusiasts under one roof.

The event opened with ‘The Stock Room’, a dedicated retail showcase where student designers displayed and sold their creations, offering them valuable exposure to the commercial side of the fashion industry. The initiative received an enthusiastic response from visitors and buyers alike.

Adding to the learning experience, noted designer and filmmaker Mozez Singh interacted with students, urging them to embrace originality and self-expression. “Fashion helps you express yourself and discover who you are,” he told the aspiring designers while sharing insights from his creative journey.

A certificate felicitation ceremony was held on July 22, recognising students for their exceptional design projects and creative achievements.

The four-day celebration culminated on July 23 with a grand fashion show at St. Andrews Auditorium, choreographed by internationally acclaimed fashion director Marc Robinson. The finale featured 37 student collections, blending traditional Indian art and craft with contemporary design aesthetics through innovative storytelling and craftsmanship.

The evening also featured keynote sessions by celebrity fashion designer Juhi Shah, who highlighted the ever-evolving nature of fashion, and sustainable entrepreneur Henna Shah, Founder of Jeevit, who encouraged young designers to embrace innovation and challenges in entrepreneurship.

Supported by industry partners Spotlight and Charter, the event attracted 1,334 participants, strengthening its role as a platform that connects emerging designers with professionals and the broader fashion industry.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Yogesh Dalal, Trustee, and Dr. Payal Dalal, Director of JD Institute of Fashion Technology.

Speaking on the successful conclusion of the Mumbai edition, Rinesh Dalal, Director of JD Institute of Fashion Technology, said the awards celebrate the creativity, dedication and growth of emerging designers. He encouraged students to trust their ideas, enjoy the creative process and continue innovating as they build their careers in the design industry.
