Abhilasha Abhinav UPSC top ranker attributes success to alma mater

Abhilasha Abhinav ranked 18th in UPSC – 2017 recalled the alma mater, attributes his success to the quality education imparted in DPS Bokaro. “DPS, Bokaro provides great exposure, guidance and congenial atmosphere for students to think, grow and progress; teachers played a vital role in making our foundation strong,” she added. The syllabus is widely covered during the studies which are more than enough for cracking UPSC, she said.

She remarked that Dr. Hemlata S Mohan, the Director and Principal of the school, possesses inherent leadership skills which are infectious and for the young people who join the school at a tender age the impression is very strong. She is a strict disciplinarian and propelled us to excel in our studies, she said.

Abhilasha (2006 – 07 batch student of DPS Bokaro) completed her B. Tech. from AC Patil College in Navi Mumbai (2012) with a specialisation in Electronics and Communication Engineering. She worked in IBM, Pune, for two-and-a-half years. She made her first attempt in 2014 but failed to clear the prelims, but later became a probationary officer in Syndicate Bank. She took the second attempt at the UPSC Civil Services in 2016 and clinched the 308th rank to get selected for the Indian Revenue Service.

Talking over phone Abhilasha said, I wished to work as much as I could to bring perceptible changes in the life of people. “My motto is to serve the public, I would like to work on the empowerment of women and work to get them the status that they really deserve,” she added.

“Nothing is impossible, believe in your self. “Discipline, hard work and perseverance is the key to success,” she said to the young aspirants.

In her special message Abhilasha said: “I request parents not to pressurise girls to marry. At the same time, girls should give confidence to parents by giving results. Women aspirants should secure a place in the family and the society. Let the daughters work wonders.”

“I expect girls to dream high,” she added.

Notably, DPS, Bokaro had proud moment with four aspirants from the school making it to the Civil Services Examination-2017 this year with Abhilasha Abhinav ranked 18th, Abhilash Baranwal 44 th, Sameer Kishan 748th and Jai Kishan 768th respectively by their meritorious performance.

Dr. Hemlata S. Mohan, Director and Principal DPS Bokaro expressed happiness on the achievement of the DPS Bokaro students. She commended their performance and said, “These results reflect the glory that merits National pride. These achievers have proved that with sheer determination, one can write their own success story. I am confident that these youth icons will serve society selflessly. They will be the Trend Setters that we wish to see in our nation. I send them my blessings and wish them the best”.

It is worth mentioning that for the last few years’ students of DPS Bokaro are proving their mettle in this coveted examination. To share a few; Aman Kumar, Rohan Kumar Jha, Ravi Kumar, Ajay Prakash, Rahul Kumar Sinha, Chandra Mohan Thakur, Saagar Srivastava, Manish Vijay, Nitish Kumar Singh, Kumar Gaurav, Riya Kejriwal, Anil Kumar and Shashi Prakash Singh.
