BIT Mesra Hosts Talk on Empowering Women Through Mental Health Awareness

Ranchi: The Women Development Cell, Srishti, at Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra, successfully organized an insightful event on “Mental Health Issues and Women,” drawing a strong turnout and emphasizing the importance of mental health awareness.

The program kicked off with a warm welcome by Prof. Bindu Lal, Chairperson of the Srishti Women Development Cell, who highlighted the necessity of creating open dialogues about mental health, particularly focusing on women’s well-being.

The event featured J. Tanushree Sengupta, a counsellor at Army School, as the guest speaker.

In her detailed presentation, Sengupta discussed the significant role of mental health in overall wellness, addressing common challenges such as the dangers of self-diagnosis and stressing the need for professional guidance.

She also touched on the concept of emotional intelligence, emphasizing its vital role in mental health management. Sengupta wrapped up her talk with a poignant quote: “Values are never taught; they are caught.”

Dr. Tanushree Bhattacharya, Secretary of Srishti, skillfully managed the event, supported by Dr. Richa Pandey, Vice Chairperson of the Women Development Cell. Their collective efforts ensured the event’s success and smooth execution.

The session ended with an interactive Q&A, allowing participants to ask questions and gain further insights into mental health issues. The talk provided attendees with a renewed appreciation for the importance of mental health and practical steps to prioritize it in their everyday lives.
