On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the site on the lunar surface where the Chandrayaan-3 lander landed will now be known as “Shiva Shakti Point.”
The location where the Chandrayaan-2 lander had an unfortunate crash landing will be known as “Tiranga Point.”
Modi made this announcement while interacting with the Team ISRO on the success of Chandrayaan-3 at Bengaluru.
After returning from Greece, PM visited the ISRO Telemetry Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) in Bengaluru on Saturday. He addressed the dedicated team at ISRO, commending their achievements in the Chandrayaan-3 mission and also received a comprehensive update on the Chandrayaan-3 mission’s progress and outcomes from ISRO scientists who were integral to the project.
Intracting with the ISRO scientists, PM explained the rationale behind the name by emphasising the profound implications of both “Shiva” and “Shakti.”
He emphasised, “In ‘Shiva,’ we discover the resolve to work for the betterment of humanity, while ‘Shakti’ gives us the power to put these aspirations into action.
This ‘Shiv Shakti Point’ on the moon represents a symbolic link between the Himalayas and Kanyakumari.”
Modi emphasised the need for the blessings of Shakti, which he referred to as the embodiment of “Nari Shakti” or women’s power, in order to advance scientific endeavours.
He praised the significant contribution of female scientists to the accomplishment of the Chandrayaan-3 lunar mission.
“Within the triumph of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, the formidable contribution of our women scientists, the nation’s ‘Nari Shakti,’ shines brightly,” added Modi.
“The ‘Shiv Shakti Point’ on the Moon will stand as a testament to India’s profound scientific and philosophical ethos,” Modi said.
And for “Tiranga Point,” PM viewed this location as a source of motivation, representing India’s unrelenting pursuit of excellence and demonstrating that setbacks are not final.
“Where there is unwavering determination, success is inevitable,” he asserted.
