JNS: A major fire broke out at Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) on Sunday morning; no casualties or loss of lives were reported in the incident, said an official.
We were working suddenly at around 10 am; suddenly, a major fire broke out with a massive explosion in a tuyere of Blast Furnace#1. This incident stalled production at BF#1, said an eyewitness.
The blaze broke out after a technical fault, though the actual reason is yet to be known, said a BSL Public Relations official.
After the stiff struggle of fire tenders, the fire was controlled in the morning, which created a huge loss. Right now, it’s quite difficult to access the actual loss, but it may be assumed in lakhs, sources said.
We have constituted a team to investigate the reason behind the accident,” said the official.
