DPS Bokaro Student Ayaan ranks 3rd in CDS-2 Examination; to join as Lieutenant

Bokaro: Ayaan Kumar Dey, a promising student from Delhi Public School (DPS) Bokaro, has brought pride to his school, city, and state by securing the third position nationally in the Combined Defense Services (CDS)-2 examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). This examination is for the recruitment of officers into India’s three defense services.

Ayaan achieved All India Rank (AIR) 3 for the Indian Naval Academy (INA) and AIR 17 for the Indian Military Academy (IMA). He has chosen to join the Military Academy, and his training as a Lieutenant will commence in July at IMA Dehradun.

Previously, Ayaan gained special entry into the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai, based on his NCC credentials, where he ranked 13th nationally and was the only candidate admitted from Jharkhand.

Principal Dr. Gangwar Praises Ayaan’s Achievement

Dr. A.S. Gangwar, Principal of DPS Bokaro, congratulated Ayaan on his remarkable success, highlighting it as a unique opportunity for direct national service. He emphasized that DPS Bokaro provides ample opportunities and platforms for students to pursue their interests and shape their futures. The UPSC CDS examination was held in September 2023, with the merit list released recently. Ayaan’s double success has been celebrated by the entire DPS Bokaro family.

Ayaan’s Journey and Aspirations

Ayaan, born on July 2, 2001, to Tata Steel employee Sangam Kumar Dey and housewife Poppy Dey, hails from Ramgarh (Ghato, West Bokaro). He expressed his lifelong dream of serving the nation through military service, inspired by his family’s military background, including his grandfather and uncle, and the influence of his classmate Shubham Jha, whose father fought in the Kargil war.

Academic and Professional Background

Ayaan, a 2018 DPS Bokaro graduate from Jamuna House, scored 85.6% in his 12th-grade science stream exams. He achieved a 10 CGPA in his 10th-grade exams from Army Public School, Ramgarh. After completing his B.Tech in Bangalore, Ayaan worked as a software developer while continuing his defense preparations, ultimately achieving his goal.

Role of DPS Bokaro and Family Support

Ayaan credits DPS Bokaro for providing him exposure, a competitive environment, and valuable guidance, which significantly contributed to his success. He also acknowledges his family’s unwavering support. Ayaan has a younger sister who completed her 12th grade this year.

Interests and Inspirations

Ayaan, from a Bengali family, has a passion for music, particularly playing the Tabla and Pakhawaj, and enjoys playing football. He looks up to cricket legend MS Dhoni as his role model, admiring Dhoni’s rise from a small town and his ability to remain composed under pressure.

Ayaan’s achievements are a testament to his dedication and hard work, marking the beginning of a promising career in the Indian Army.
