DVC will supply an additional 250 MVA power to BSL; supporting its expansion plans

Bokaro: Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) will provide an additional 250 MVA (Megavolt-Ampere) of power to Bokaro Steel Limited (BSL), a unit of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between DVC and BSL officials at Bokaro Steel City on Saturday.

Currently, DVC is supplying 220 MVA of power to BSL. However, with this new agreement, the additional supply is set to commence from the financial year 2027-28. This decision is seen as a response to the anticipated expansion of BSL, necessitating an increased demand for power.

According to the sources, DVC will meet this augmented demand through its upcoming brown field thermal power projects, which are being developed at various locations. The agreement underscores the commitment of both DVC and BSL to support the growth and expansion of the steel industry in the region.

The signing ceremony was attended by key officials from both organisations. Representing DVC were Member (Finance) Arup Sarkar, Executive Director (Commercial) Sanjeev Srivastava, ED (System) DK Singh, and ED (Finance) Joydeep Mukherjee.

BSL was represented by its ED (Works), ED (Projects), ED (Finance), and other senior officials, highlighting the importance of this agreement for both parties.
