Ghaziabad: The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Wednesday marked its 94th anniversary, showcasing its combat readiness and operational capabilities as Prime Minister Narendra Modi saluted the nation’s “brave air warriors” on Air Force Day.
Calling October 8 a special day for India, Modi paid tribute to IAF personnel for their courage, dedication and service to the nation.
At the main Air Force Day ceremony at Hindon Air Base, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh highlighted the force’s expanding capabilities and stressed that the IAF’s real strength lies in its air warriors—not merely in sophisticated weapons and advanced technology.
Describing the IAF as the “custodian of the skies,” Singh said the force fully understands its responsibilities and remains alert, committed and prepared to respond to any contingency.

Recalling the IAF’s role in Operation Sindoor, the Air Chief Marshal said the operation demonstrated both the destructive capability and the effectiveness of India’s air-defence network. He said the theme, “Infallible, Impervious and Precise,” reflects the force’s operational strength and resolve.
Singh also underscored the growing culture of ownership and accountability within the IAF and said its core values remain central to the force’s functioning.
The anniversary celebrations featured a grand parade at Hindon Air Base, inspected by the IAF chief. Group Captain Manish Sharma commanded the parade. Chief of Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral K. Swaminathan were among those present.
This year’s celebrations come as the IAF continues to modernise its capabilities to address emerging security challenges.
The celebrations will culminate in a major air show over Varanasi, where IAF pilots will demonstrate the force’s combat prowess and flying skills through a series of aerial manoeuvres over the historic city.
