Dhanbad: The Civil Engineering department of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad has embarked on a collaborative venture with Teree Armee, Reinforced Earth India Pvt Ltd, a pioneer in the reinforced earth technique, to conduct joint research on real site issues and provide research internships for IIT (ISM) students.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the office of the Dean (Research & Development) of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.
Atanu Adhikari, Chief Development Officer of TerreArmee India, and Professor Sagar Pal, Dean (Research & Development) of IIT (ISM), signed the MoU in the presence of Col. Soumendra Banerjee, Vice President of Teree Armee, and Professor Sarat Kumar Das, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering.
Professor Sowmiya Chawla, Associate Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering and coordinator of joint collaborative projects, highlighted that under the MoU, both organizations will collaborate on executing projects on the ground.
“While IIT (ISM) will handle the modelling and research aspects, Teree Armee will execute the projects on the ground with the support of IIT (ISM)’s technical expertise,” explained Chawla.
Chawla also emphasized the benefits of the MoU for internship opportunities, noting that a six-month internship with Teree Armee will enhance the placement prospects of B.Tech and M.Tech students.
