The trials selection for Khel Mahakumbh – 2017-18 will kicks-off in Bokaro district on 8 December; will screen over ten thousand kids aged between 8 and 12 years aiming to induct them into different academies at the mega sports complex, informed Commander Vikrant Malay, the secretary of the sports organising committee.
Students of the government and non-government schools of the district (at the block level) between the age group can participate in this trail event, he said adding, “After this, 100 students will be selected from here and will be included in the game along with preparations in Ranchi’s playground”.
Later, the selected players from there will be further admitted to the national level sports academy so that they can emerge as a better player, said Malay. “The aim of the programme is to promote awareness about sports, create a conducive atmosphere for sports and provide a platform for talented youngsters”, he added.
The trail selection is scheduled to be conducted at Chandankiyari on 8 December, 9 December at Chas, 10 December at Paterwar, on 11 at B & K, on 12 at Kathara, 13 at DVC, on 14 December at Nawadih, on 15 at Chandrapura, 16 December at Kasmar and on 17 December at Gomia, he said.
Jharkhand government is going to organise ‘Khel Mahakumbh— 2017-18’ at Jamshedpur in joint association with State Sports Promotion Society and Central Coalfield Limited (CCL). State Government in partnership with CCL established the Sports Academy in the year 2016 at Ranchi. In the first batch, 78 sports cadets were admitted from various districts of the state while 100 more sports cadets were added in the year 2016-17, informed Malay.
Now we are on move, planning for the selection of 522 new sports cadets for the year 2017-18, the selection program will be completed by the end of this year, he said. “Thus the total strength would be 700 which includes boys and girls in the ratio of 50:50”, said Malay adding, “The cadets would be trained to bring glory to the Nation in the form of Gold Medals in 2024 Olympics which scheduled to be held in Paris”.
