Lucknow: In Gorakhpur, the birthplace of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a campaign to remove loudspeakers and sound amplifiers from religious and public places was once again launched today, Thursday.
Led by District Magistrate Krishna Karunesh and Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Gaurav Grover, officials visited all police station areas in the district and inspected the illegal loudspeakers installed at religious and public places.
Additionally, the concerned station in-charges were instructed to remove any loudspeakers playing at high volumes and take immediate action against the responsible individuals.
Previously, a joint team of police and administration had removed illegal loudspeakers, but complaints about loudspeakers still playing at some locations had been received. The checking started at 4 a.m. on Thursday, with DM Krishna Karunesh and SSP Dr. Gaurav Grover inspecting police stations in their respective areas along with senior police officers.
During this time, all Circle Officers (COs) and station in-charges were present with their teams. During the inspection, the officials warned that strict action would be taken against individuals who installed loudspeakers at religious places without permission. They also emphasized that to prevent noise pollution, the volume of loudspeakers at all religious places must adhere to prescribed standards.
