One Dead, Several Injured as Singapore Airlines Flight Encounters Severe Turbulence

Singapore: At least one person has died and several others have been injured after a Singapore Airlines flight from London encountered severe turbulence on Tuesday.

The flight, en route from London to Singapore, experienced the turbulence, leading to tragic consequences.

In a statement posted on X, the airline said, “Singapore Airlines flight #SQ321, operating from London (Heathrow) to Singapore on 20 May 2024, encountered severe turbulence en-route. The aircraft diverted to Bangkok and landed at 1545hrs local time on 21 May 2024.”

“We can confirm that there are injuries and one fatality on board the Boeing 777-300ER. Singapore Airlines offers its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased,” the statement added.

The airline is collaborating with local authorities in Thailand to provide the necessary medical assistance.

Officials have mentioned that a team is being dispatched to Bangkok to offer any additional assistance needed.

The exact number of people injured in the incident has not been specified by the aviation company.
