New Delhi/Srinagar: Barely hours after India and Pakistan publicly agreed to a full ceasefire, hostilities resumed on Saturday with fresh violations reported along the Line of Control (LoC).
Sources confirmed that a suspected Pakistani drone was spotted near the LoC in the Poonch sector of Jammu & Kashmir, while reports of blackouts emerged from Barmer, Rajasthan. Further details are awaited.
In a post on X, Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah confirmed that multiple explosions were heard across Srinagar. “This is no ceasefire. The air defence units in the middle of Srinagar just opened up,” he wrote, sharing a video of the incident. “What the hell just happened to the ceasefire? Explosions heard across Srinagar!!” he added.

Security sources said the Border Security Force (BSF) has been placed on high alert and instructed to respond proportionately to any further provocations.
The ceasefire, announced earlier in the day, followed a direct call between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both nations. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed that the ceasefire was to take effect from 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, aligning with U.S. President Donald Trump’s claim that the agreement had been brokered with American mediation.
According to Misri, Pakistan’s DGMO initiated the ceasefire call at 3:35 p.m., and both sides agreed to halt all military actions — including those by land, air, and sea. However, the latest developments cast doubt on the durability of the fragile truce, raising concerns over renewed instability in the region.
