New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the Guest of Honour at Mauritius’ 57th National Day celebrations on March 12, Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam announced in Parliament.
Calling it a “great privilege,” Ramgoolam highlighted the deep-rooted ties between India and Mauritius and expressed gratitude for Modi’s acceptance despite his busy schedule.
The visit comes after Modi’s recent trips to France and the United States, further reinforcing India’s strong diplomatic and historical connections with Mauritius. Last year, President Droupadi Murmu represented India as the chief guest at the event.
Mauritius marks its National Day annually on March 12, commemorating its independence from British rule in 1968. Modi’s presence is expected to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation between the two nations.
