Terrorist attack on IAF convoy in J&K’s Poonch leaves 5 soldiers injured

J&K: In a brazen act, terrorists targeted two vehicles within an Indian Air Force (IAF) convoy on Saturday evening in the Surankote area of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir. The attack resulted in five soldiers sustaining injuries, as per media reports.

One of the airmen is reportedly in critical condition, according to NDTV.

All the injured have been swiftly evacuated to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. In response to the attack, additional troops have been deployed to the region, and anti-terrorism operations are currently underway, the report added.

This incident marks the first major assault on the armed forces in the region this year, following a string of terrorist attacks against the army last year.

Visuals post-attack revealed multiple bullet holes on the windshield of the targeted vehicle, the report noted.

“An Indian Air Force convoy came under terrorist attack in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. The local Rashtriya Rifles unit has initiated cordon and search operations in the area. The vehicles have been secured within the air base in the vicinity of Shahsitar. Military personnel have sustained injuries,” sources in the security forces confirmed.
