Bokaro: Cheers, sweat and determination filled the air as 5,800 runners from across India took to the track at the SAIL–Bokaro Half Marathon, transforming Mohan Kumar Mangalam Stadium into a festival of fitness.

The field featured 1,229 women and 4,571 men, competing in 21 km, 10 km and 5 km races for both men and women. A special 2 km run for persons with disabilities added an inspiring dimension, drawing loud cheers for the participants’ confidence and determination.

The race was flagged off by Priya Ranjan, Director-in-Charge, Bokaro Steel Plant, in the presence of senior plant officials and DIG (CISF) Smt. M. Mittal. The stadium echoed with applause as runners surged forward.

With hydration points, energy drinks, medical teams, ambulances, volunteers and tight security deployed across the route, the event ran smoothly. Traffic management and safety measures ensured a secure racing environment.

Several athletes clocked personal bests, while many first-timers completed long distances amid loud support from spectators. Every finisher received medals and certificates, and winners were felicitated by the Director-in-Charge.

Beyond competition, the marathon delivered a strong message—fitness, discipline and community participation—marking another milestone in building a vibrant sporting culture in Bokaro and eastern India.
