Baloch Writer Calls for Recognition of Independent Balochistan Amid Rising Indo-Pak Tensions

New Delhi: Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, prominent Baloch writer and activist Mir Yar Baloch has made a bold declaration regarding Balochistan’s independence, calling for international recognition and support.

In a series of posts on social media platform X, Mir Yar Baloch asserted that the “collapse of terrorist Pakistan is near” and claimed that Balochistan has declared independence. He urged the Indian government to formally permit the establishment of a Balochistan representative office and embassy in New Delhi.

“We request India to allow Balochistan’s official office and embassy in Delhi,” he wrote, adding that an announcement regarding a transitional government is imminent.

The writer also made a strong appeal to the United Nations, urging it to recognize the “Democratic Republic of Balochistan” and to convene a session of member states to support this recognition. He called on the UN to deploy peacekeeping forces in Balochistan and to press Pakistan to withdraw its military presence—including the army, air force, and navy—from the region.

“We urge the UN to immediately send peacekeeping missions and ask Pakistan’s occupational forces to vacate our land, airspace, and sea, leaving behind all weapons and state property,” Baloch stated.

Further, he demanded the departure of all non-Baloch personnel serving in Pakistani institutions such as the army, frontier corps, police, military intelligence, ISI, and civil administration.

Baloch also mentioned that a new interim government will soon be established to oversee the transition to full independence. He emphasized gender inclusivity, noting that Baloch women will be represented in the cabinet as a commitment to national values.

Concluding his statement, Baloch revealed plans for a forthcoming state ceremony marking the formal establishment of the independent Balochistan government. “We invite the heads of friendly nations to attend the national parade and join us in this historic moment,” he wrote.

There has been no official response yet from the Indian government or the United Nations regarding these statements. The situation continues to unfold as regional dynamics shift rapidly.
