India Foils Multiple Pakistani Attacks, Responds Strongly Along Western Border; BSF Neutralizes 7 Terrorists

New Delhi: In a major counter-insurgency operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) foiled an infiltration attempt along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district late Thursday night, killing seven terrorists. The incident comes amid a sharp escalation in cross-border hostilities between India and Pakistan.

Confirming the operation, BSF Jammu posted on X: “At around 2300 hours on 8 May 2025, BSF foiled a major infiltration bid at the International Boundary in Samba district, J&K.”

The thwarted infiltration coincided with a wider offensive from across the border. According to official sources, Pakistani forces launched a series of coordinated drone and air strikes starting around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, targeting both civilian and military zones across multiple Indian states including Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat.

In a swift retaliatory move, the Indian Navy reportedly launched a precision strike from the Arabian Sea using MiG-29K aircraft deployed from INS Vikrant, targeting key Pakistani naval infrastructure at Karachi Port.

Simultaneously, Indian armed forces repelled multiple attacks along the western border. These included targeted drone incursions, missile strikes, and a series of ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. Air defence units successfully intercepted all eight missiles launched toward critical areas such as Satwari, Samba, RS Pura, and Arnia, preventing any reported casualties.

Defence officials likened the attack patterns to “Hamas-style tactics”, accusing Pakistan of adopting strategies used by terrorist organisations. The Indian military reaffirmed its preparedness to respond decisively to any further provocations, stating that all hostile actions would receive a “befitting reply.”

Amid heightened tensions, Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level meeting with top officials from the BSF and CISF to review border and airport security.

In a joint press briefing, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri clarified that India’s recent military operations were strictly aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure within Pakistan. He reiterated that the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam had triggered the current military response. “India seeks de-escalation but reserves the right to defend itself,” Misri said.

Military spokespersons, including Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, confirmed that Indian forces had successfully neutralized several enemy air defence systems, including a radar installation in Lahore.

The Defence Ministry also dismissed unverified social media reports of suicide bombings in Pathankot and Rajouri, urging the public to rely on official sources for information.

The situation remains tense along the border, with security forces on high alert as India continues to monitor developments closely.
