JNS: Bokaro Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Electoral Officer of Giridih Lok Sabha constituency KN Jha informed that counting for Giridih constituency will be done in 19 rounds at Krishi Bazar Centre ITI More Chas.
While for Dhanbad Lok Sabha Constituency counting of votes will be done at Krishi Bazar Samiti Dhanbad. “The counting for the LS election results will start at 8 am on 23 May and it will be done in around 28 rounds. At least 600 officers and workers will be put on duty for the task besides unprecedented security personnel, said A Dodde, DC Dhanbad.
For Giridih LS seat votes will be counted on 120 tables, while for Dhanbad it will be done on 127 tables at one go. Observers, returning officer and collectors will be present with the candidates before the opening of strong rooms.
For Dhanbad LS seat counting of votes of Chandankiyari Assembly area will be conducted in 15 rounds, Bokaro in 28 rounds, Sindri 21 rounds, Dhanbad 22 rounds and Jharia 16 rounds, informed a district administration official.
On the directive of the Supreme Court the final verdict on Lok Sabha seat will be declared only after the tallying of voter-verified paper audit trail (VVPAT) slips with EVM count is completed—a process that is expected to take well over four hours per constituency. The selection of the five EVMs in every Assembly constituency will be done by a draw of lots in the presence of political party candidates, said an official.
Recently the Supreme Court of India had directed the Election Commission to tally the VVPAT slips of at least five EVMs in each Assembly segment in a Lok Sabha constituency. Earlier, the Election Commission used to count the VVPAT slips of just one EVM in every Assembly Constituency, he informed.
ECI has directed us that after every round the tabulation, a sheet will be given to the candidates for their signature, he said.
As much as 62 per cent voting was recorded in Dhanbad and Giridih recorded 65.93 percent polling during the sixth phase of polling on the 12 May.
Both Lok Sabha seats are known to the traditional seats of BJP but this time AJSU contested as an ally of BJP under their alliance deal on Giridih LS seat while Congress candidate Kriti Azad contested on Dhanbad LS seat under Grand Alliance against BJP sitting MP PN Singh.
