CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory Commemorates National Technology Day 2024

Jamhsedpur: CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR-NML) observed National Technology Day 2024 to commemorate the 1998 Pokhran nuclear test and other scientific and technological achievements. The event featured a speech by Dr. Debashish Bhattacharjee, VP Technology & R&D at Tata Steel Ltd., who spoke on “From Schools to Start-ups: Igniting Young Minds to Innovate.”

CSIR-NML Director Dr. Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury delivered the welcome address, highlighting the significance of science and technology for national development. Dr. SK Pal, Chief Scientist & Head-RPBD Division, presented the laboratory’s continuing technology development program and technologies commercialized in the last financial year, emphasizing their societal impact.

Dr. Bhattacharjee’s speech focused on an innovation-powered approach for sustainable development, discussing successful business models, sustainable ventures, and next-generation innovations. He emphasized the importance of knowledge creation and enterprise development for national progress.

The event also featured the presentation of CSIR-NML’s 2023-24 Annual Report and was attended by Abhijit Nanoti, MD of ISWP, Jamshedpur. Over 120 students and faculty from various institutions participated in the event, including Jamshedpur Women’s College, Srinath University, Arka Jain University, Al-Kabir Polytechnic, and Aditya Institute of Technology.

Aditya Mainak, CSIR-NML Administrative Officer, concluded the event with a vote of gratitude, followed by the National Anthem.
