An auto driver died and four students were seriously injured when a speeding Bolero (carrying DSP Headquarter) collided head-on with an auto carrying school children in Bokaro on Thursday morning. The SUV later dashed on a High mask light post, skidded off and turned turtle.
According to the eyewitnesses, reckless driving resulted into the accident as an over sped Bolero carrying DSP Head Quarter Bokaro, Punam Minz, coming from City Police station, collided head-on with an Auto carrying students of Bokaro Public School near Krishna More.
“As the DSP’s vehicle was at a very high speed, driver lost its control on the vehicle, after the collision and it again collided with a high mask light post, skidded off and turned turtle,” said Laltu an eyewitness.
Soon after the incident DSP Minz came out from her vehicle and escaped from the spot. Irked over this, locals along with other school students gathered on the spot, started protesting and blocked the road. Later, City DSP Ajay Kumar and SDO Chas rushed on the spot.
Police resorted to lathi charge to control the irate mob, said an eyewitness. But the situation is under control, said an official.
