India tests 3,500 km K-4 nuclear-capable missile from INS Arighaat

New Delhi: India has successfully test-fired the K-4 submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM), which has a range of 3,500 kilometers, from its newly inducted nuclear submarine, INS Arighaat. The test was conducted on Wednesday, as reported by ANI on Thursday, citing defense sources.

According to the report, the missile was fired from INS Arighaat, and the results are currently under analysis. The submarine is operated by the Strategic Forces Command of the Indian Navy.

This test marks a significant advancement in India’s nuclear deterrence strategy. INS Arighaat, the country’s second nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine, was commissioned in August during a ceremony in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

The successful test of the K-4 missile further strengthens India’s defense capabilities, underscoring its growing prowess in submarine-based nuclear deterrence.
