Bangkok: Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented a comprehensive 21-point Action Plan to strengthen cooperation among BIMSTEC nations during his address at the 6th BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok. Modi emphasized the need for enhanced collaboration across multiple sectors, including business, technology, disaster management, space, and security.
The Indian Prime Minister underscored the immense potential within the IT sector and urged the BIMSTEC countries to harness it for mutual growth and technological advancements. He also highlighted the importance of working together on disaster management, citing the recent earthquakes in Myanmar and Thailand as a reminder of the urgency for joint efforts in this area.
In his address, Modi called for an increased focus on space cooperation and strengthening the security frameworks within the region. He stressed that BIMSTEC should become a model for capacity building, with nations learning from one another to drive progress.
Modi also focused on the role of youth in shaping the future of BIMSTEC and emphasized the power of cultural linkages in bringing the member nations closer together. He concluded by reaffirming his belief in the strength of the region’s collective efforts to drive growth and prosperity.
