New Delhi: Narendra Modi has assumed office as Prime Minister for the third time. Upon taking charge, PM Modi signed his first file, authorizing the release of the 17th installment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi.

This installment will benefit 9.3 crore farmers by distributing approximately Rs 20,000 crore.

PM Modi emphasized that his first decision of the new government underscores its commitment to farmer welfare. He assured that his administration will continue to work diligently for the benefit of farmers and the agriculture sector in the coming years.

Launched in 2019, the PM-KISAN scheme aims to provide income support to all landholding farmer families across India. Under this scheme, eligible farmer families receive a financial benefit of Rs 6,000 per year, distributed in three installments of Rs 2,000 each. The scheme is fully funded by the Central government, with the amount transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.

To date, the PM-KISAN scheme has benefited over 11 crore farmer families, with more than Rs 3 lakh crore transferred to their accounts.
