Schools up to Class 8 in Jharkhand Closed Indefinitely Due to Heat Wave

Racnhi: The state’s Education Department has instructed all government and private schools to suspend classes up to Class 8 from Tuesday until further notice due to the scorching temperatures.

The decision was prompted by reports of many children falling ill due to the hot winds and heat wave, leading to a decline in attendance. To safeguard the health of students, the department has taken this step.

A notification was issued by the School Education and Literacy Department on Monday evening, clarifying that the closure does not apply to residential schools, which will continue to operate as usual.

For classes above Class 9, school hours will be from 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Prayer meetings, sports, and other outdoor activities will be suspended during this time.

Teachers and non-teaching staff are expected to report to school as usual, with no leave granted during this period. They are required to carry out various tasks, including evaluating answer sheets, preparing result reports, entering marks online, cataloging library books, updating registers, and enrolling students for the upcoming academic session.

All teachers are also required to register on the J-Guruji Application for capacity building and watch available video content.

Residential schools will continue to operate normally, unaffected by the closure order for other schools.
