Starship explodes mid-air during flight test

JNS: SpaceX’s Starship, the world’s largest and most powerful rocket, exploded minutes after launch during its first test flight on Thursday. Elon Musk’s Starship rocket built and designed to send astronauts to the Moon, the Mars and beyond.

The next Starship test will be conducted in a few months, said Musk.

The company tweeted: “the rocket experienced a rapid unscheduled disassembly before stage separation.” “With a test like this, success comes from what we learn, and today’s test will help us improve Starship’s reliability as SpaceX seeks to make life multi-planetary,” SpaceX tweeted.

“Congratulations to the entire SpaceX team on an exciting first integrated flight test of Starship!”

An issue with the test flight was mentioned by the commentators at the three-minute mark.

The rocket then began to flip for the separation stage and the rotating rocket was seen in the SpaceX livestream.

The announcer said, “This does not appear to be a nominal situation,” and then the rocket went explode in the sky.

A pressurisation issue in the booster stage forced the cancellation of the first attempt to launch the massive rocket on Monday, so anticipation was high for this effort.
