In a first-of-its-kind project, the Chas Municipal Corporation (CMC) has planned to construct a multi-level modern slaughter house in Chas the satellite town of Bokaro Steel City.
The Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the slaughter house is ready, once the Ministry of Food Processing approves this 8 crore rupees project, the civic body will float tenders for the same and construction works will kicked-off, said an official.
The civic body has already earmarked an area of 2 acres of land in Jogidih at Chas for the slaughter house, which is being built on the lines of a modern slaughter house, officials said.
“A slaughter house is required in Chas-Bokaro to centralise illegal butchering that takes place in the twin towns of the district. “It will also create demand for raw material (animals) to be produced in nearby areas”, official added.
“There would be only one slaughter house in Chas and Bokaro. Veterinary doctors will also be available there and permission to sell the raw meat in the market will be given after test and verification by them”, added the official.
The slaughter house will also serve as the terminal market for livestock for slaughter and resale or restocking of poultry and goat, he said.
Recently CMC bagged with ‘Clean City Award’, ranked 41th position in the entire country for cleanliness; declared the second cleanest city in eastern India and the most clean city of Jharkhand.
