Dhanbad get new University

koylanchal-universityJharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das laid the foundation stone for the establishment of ‘Koylanchal University’ at Bhelatand in Barbadda at Dhanbad district on Monday.

The demand for the establishment of Koylanchal University here was a much-awaited demand of the locals. About 96,000 students from Dhanbad are presently studying at VBU; facing very tough situations as we have to visit Hazaribagh for any university-related work. Even we have to run from pillar to post for a very simple work, said Chandan a student and local resident of Bhuli at Dhanbad.

The state government has already sanctioned funds for the construction of the Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University while two days earlier the governor appointed the director of BIT Sindri D K Singh as the acting Vice Chancellor (VC) of this new university, official informed.

On the stretch of 25 acres of land this new university will be erected with an investment of Rs 348.50 crore; started functioning in next two years, official informed.

At least forty eight colleges spread across Dhanbad and Bokaro district would be cut off from Vinoba Bhave University (VBU) Hazaribag and would be come under Binod Bihari Mahto Koylanchal University. Apart from that, the university would also have a couple of law colleges and a medical college as its constituents, said an official.

Address to the mass CM said, “Jharkhand soon to be turned up as an education hub”, “we are on move”; three more medicals colleges and a Women’s University very soon to come-up at Jamshedpur”, he said.
