Ranchi: Four individuals implicated in the land scam case, including JMM leader Antu Tirkey, Congress leader Priyaranjan Sahay, Vipin Singh, and Irshad, were remanded to judicial custody following their arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday.
The ED officials brought the accused before the Ranchi PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) Special Court on Wednesday. After the proceedings, the court ordered the accused to be placed in judicial custody. The arrests came after an extensive interrogation by the ED, culminating in the apprehension of the suspects late Tuesday evening.
The ED’s actions are part of their investigation into the land scam case involving former Chief Minister Hemant Soren. The agency had previously taken Mohammad Saddam, the alleged mastermind behind the fabrication of fake deeds, into custody for interrogation. Saddam reportedly provided crucial information to the ED, leading to the arrests of Tirkey, Sahay, Singh, and Irshad.
The ED has requested a seven-day remand for further questioning of the accused, a request that will be deliberated upon in court on Thursday.
