‘Learn by doing’, DPS Bokaro organises ‘RIVAAYAT- 2018’

18-bg-90With the motto to ‘Learn by doing’ a vibrant Fete ‘RIVAAYAT- 2018’ was organised by the students of Class XII commerce batch of DPS Bokaro on Saturday, August 4 , 2018. The gala fete was attended by students of Classes VI to XII with zeal and enthusiasm.

The fete was inaugurated by Chief Guest, Dr. Ashok Singh, Principal, Chinmaya Vidyalaya along with the Guest of Honour Jose Thomas, Principal, GGPS Chas and Dr. Hemlata S Mohan Director and Principal of DPS Bokaro.
The chief guest appreciated the effort of the commerce department and the school for organising such an event. He suggested the students should focus on three important elements to a successful life which are taking care of one’s body, keeping the mind positive and exhibit their behaviour as a true Dipsite and wished that may there be godliness in all your actions.

Appreciating the efficient leadership and guidance of Dr. Mohan as the president of Dr. Radhakrishnan Sahodaya School Complex, Jose Thomas remarked that the schools of Bokaro are running effectively and smoothly. On the occasion, Dr. Mohan said, “Students must know the practical application of the knowledge imparted in the classrooms.” She remarked that such events create an opportunity for students to learn managerial skills like time management, event management and its practical applications.

The aim of the fete was to facilitate ‘learning’ by doing. After studying the principles of Business Studies, the students endeavoured to perform five functions of management – Planning, Organizing, Staffing, Directing and Controlling. The knowledge acquired through these activities relate to real life experience. The Commerce students working relentlessly for this event were also able to raise funds as profit which shall be further used for charity.

Bright posters, balloons, decorations adorned the fete area and created a perfect carnival ambiance for the students to enjoy and to have ‘hands-on’ experience of learning by doing. Wonderfully decorated appetising food stalls were put in by the student including the Chaat Stall, Momos Stall, Soda Stall, Ice-cream Stall and Pastry Stall. On the occasion, Vice Principal Mr. Pravin Sharma, Dr. Manisha Tiwari, P Shailaja Jaykumar Headmaster Anjani Bhushan, Headmistresses Shalini Sharma, Manisha Sharma and Sunita Bhardwaj were also present along with other teachers and students. The event was co-ordinated by Dr. Urvashi Talwar.
