Aiming to connect the students with nature and create a sense of responsibility towards the environment a plant exhibition and competition ‘Phulwari’ held at DPS, Bokaro on Friday.
The exhibition displayed more than thousand plants including a collection of diverse flora nurtured by the students in diversified categories like- flowering, non-flowering and medicinal; inaugurated by Dr. Hemlata S Mohan the Director and Principal of the school.
Addressing to the inaugural eve Dr Mohan expressed her happiness for the active participation of students in nurturing the plants and showcasing their concern and belongingness towards the environment. She said that the idea behind putting the exhibition is to sensitise the students and parents towards their responsibility for the environment. She remarked that the trees have a soul, they have life. She urged the students to converse with them and connect.
The exhibition witnessed the student’s expression and their deep connection with nature through slogans and poems etc. Those plants which were put in the show had already been adopted by the students, weaving a unique bond of care and nurture with nature for the last three months.
The exhibition also had a competition judged by Rita Khawas, Sumit Kumar Gorai, Shewta Singh in the Primary Wing while Shalini Thakur, Neelam Singh and Shobhana Panwar in the Senior Wing. The best species of plants were selected on the basis of its health, soil, texture and economic significance, school authority informed.
