Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah becomes the new Prime Minister of Kuwait

JNS: Kuwait has a new Prime Minister, with Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah al-Ahmad al-Sabah appointed to the position by the country’s Emir. This decision comes after the resignation of former Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah on April 7. Sheikh Mohammad submitted his cabinet’s resignation on April 6, following the election of a new parliament on April 4.

The resignation of Sheikh Mohammad was a procedural step following the election of a new parliament.

The newly appointed Prime Minister, Sheikh Ahmad, is an economist who has previously served as Minister of Finance and Communications from 1999 to 2005. He later held the positions of Minister of Health, Minister of Oil, and Minister of Information from 2006 to 2011.
