Gautam Adani Surpasses Mukesh Ambani, Becomes Asia’s Richest Person

 

Mumbai: Gautam Adani, the billionaire chairman of the Adani Group, has reclaimed the title of Asia’s wealthiest individual, dethroning Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman of Reliance Industries, according to the latest data from the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

As of 6 pm on Saturday, Gautam Adani occupies the 11th position on the index with a staggering net worth of $111 billion, surpassing Mukesh Ambani’s $109 billion fortune. Adani’s ascendancy marks a significant shift after nearly five months, with Ambani now trailing in the 12th position.

Adani’s net worth surged by $5.45 billion, while Ambani saw a modest gain of $76.2 million. Year-to-date, Adani’s wealth has skyrocketed by $26.8 billion compared to Ambani’s increase of $12.7 billion.

The recent surge in Adani Group stocks propelled Adani back to the top spot. On May 31, shares of all Adani Group companies witnessed a remarkable uptick, surging by 14 percent following a Jefferies report highlighting the conglomerate’s ambitious expansion plans, including a projected $90 billion in capital expenditures over the next decade.

Expressing optimism about the future of the Adani Group, Gautam Adani stated, “The road ahead is paved with extraordinary possibilities, and I can promise you that the Adani Group today is stronger than it has ever been.”

At present, Bernard Arnault leads the global wealth rankings with a net worth of $207 billion, followed closely by Elon Musk with $203 billion and Jeff Bezos with $199 billion.
