Ahmedabad: US President Donald Trump’s Air Force One will land at Ahmedabad Airport on Monday. His two-day visit to India will be accompanied by wife Melania, daughter Ivanka and son-in-law Jared Kushner. He will have a grand reception in Ahmedabad. Trump will hold a roadshow with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, there and both will address a public meeting at the ‘Namaste Trump’ event at Motera Stadium.
Officials and security agencies are busy finalizing preparations in view of the US President’s visit to the city. In addition to the tight security arrangements in the city, programs will be attended by officials of the US Intelligence Agency as well as personnel of the National Security Guard (NSG) and the Special Security Group (SPG). Officials said police would use drone piercing technology to kill any suspected drone on the route. Along with this, anti-sniper teams of NSG will also be deployed on the route. Home Minister Amit Shah is also in Ahmedabad to take stock of the preparations.
Sabarmati Ashram officials said that despite the uncertainty over Trump’s visit to the ashram during his roadshow, all preparations have been made in view of the possibility of his arrival with Modi. During Mahatma Gandhi’s stay here, Sabarmati Ashram was the main centre in the country’s freedom struggle. According to the plan, the US President will be given a grand welcome upon the reaching Ahmedabad airport, from where Modi and Trump will conduct a 22-km roadshow. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has tweeted a video welcoming Trump.
